Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike. -John Muir
Northern California is home to some of the most awe inspiring natural beauty on the planet. From the snow-kissed peak of Mount Shasta, to the dramatic sculpted beauty of Yosemite National Park, through fertile valleys, vineyards, and riparian pathways of wild white water and sedately flowing delta waterways out to the rugged majesty of a 400 mile Pacific coastline, no matter where you settle here, this is a place that gives back aesthetically to all of its inhabitants.
As the landscapes work their magic on the soul, there is also the cultural richness of the area, both refined and ethnically enriched, to stimulate the intellect and the imagination. There are museums and theaters throughout the region, world class orchestras, opera, and ballet companies in San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento, and smaller but noble city arts programs in cities such as Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Mendocino, Chico, Eureka, Napa and Sonoma.
